Looking back on my own high school lifting and training experiences, there was so much I was doing wrong and overall uneducated about. Through college athletics and the training/nutrition support staff I had at my disposal, information I had learned thus far in my Kinesiology classes, and from coach/training professionals in the industry I felt confident in my ability to bring something to this lifting program and these female athletes.
I approached this opportunity with the intention of using different coaching styles with different athletes depending on how they respond and also providing corrective exercise technique work when necessary. Preventative injury care is important to me, so I wanted to convey that to my young female athletes that yes we want to work hard, but not at the expense of injuring ourselves due to incorrect technique and not addressing weaknesses.
